How can a chiropractor here in Miami help you after an accident? Regular visits to our office can not only help you recover from current injuries but also help you stay on top of any related aches and pains that emerge days or weeks after an accident. We have numerous modalities that will help you recover, including low-force chiropractic techniques.
Low-force chiropractic techniques are methods of chiropractic care that use light force, high-velocity adjustments to correct spinal misalignment. Low-force techniques are particularly helpful for patients who have experienced a recent trauma such as an accident, or whose conditions are particularly painful to the touch. They are also helpful for those with fragile bones. There is no hands-on manual manipulation with this technique but rather controlled adjustments using a chiropractic tool.
Low-force techniques can be used independently, as the sole adjustment technique for helping patients heal quickly following a traumatic injury, such as a car accident. They can also be utilized at the beginning of treatment with a broader chiropractic plan as the treatment progresses. Low-force chiropractic adjusting techniques are exceptional for those patients who have experienced recent traumatic injuries, experience chronic pain, or are sensitive to touch.
Low-force High-velocity Technique
One technique is called the low-force high-velocity technique, which includes a quick impulse at specific vertebrae. This is a very gentle action and can offer immediate pain relief.
Another low-force technique is the Activator Method. It utilizes a small, spring-loaded, handheld tool called an activator. The spring-loaded tip applies a quick, gentle, precise burst of pressure to a small targeted area, usually along the spine to gently realign the bones.
The Activator Method is extremely helpful for conditions such as acute whiplash, where we do not want to apply any rotation until we can begin to decrease the inflammation and the persistent pain. The activator can begin the healing process earlier than would be possible using only traditional chiropractic methods.
The Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) targets the functional relationship between the head, pelvis, and spine – the structure that protects our central nervous system. SOT focuses on the pelvis as the foundation for proper spinal alignment and utilizes blocks or wedges precisely positioned under the pelvis. The patient’s body weight, gravity, and gentle pressure from the practitioner help to align the misaligned pelvis, improving the alignment of the entire spine and head.
